I take your privacy seriously and want you to feel confident about how your personal information is handled when you visit my website, place an order or join my mailing list.
Kim Plimley Ceramics is operated by Kim Plimley, a sole trader based in Scotland. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Information I collect
I may collect personal information when you:
• place an order through my website
• join my mailing list
• contact me by email or through my website
• enquire about wholesale, bespoke or collaborative work

Depending on how you interact with the site, this may include your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery address, order details and correspondence with me.
The website may also collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited and information about how you use the site through Squarespace and Google Analytics.
How I use your information
I only use your personal information where I have a lawful reason to do so.
To process and fulfil your order
When you place an order, I use the information you provide to process your purchase, take payment, communicate with you about your order and arrange delivery.
This processing is necessary to fulfil the contract between us.
I may also need to retain information relating to purchases for accounting, tax, fraud prevention or other legal obligations.
To respond to enquiries
If you contact me about my ceramics, a studio visit, wholesale, a bespoke project or another enquiry, I use the information you provide to respond and, where relevant, discuss or fulfil your request.
Depending on the nature of your enquiry, I process this information because it is necessary to take steps towards a potential contract or because I have a legitimate interest in communicating with people who contact my business.
Mailing list and email marketing
If you choose to join my mailing list, I use your name and email address to send occasional news from the studio, including new work, shop updates, Journal stories and other Kim Plimley Ceramics news.
My mailing list and newsletters are managed using Squarespace Email Campaigns.
I send marketing emails on the basis of your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email, or by contacting me at hello@kimplimley.com.
Squarespace Email Campaigns may also provide information about the performance of my emails, including information such as opens and clicks.
Payments
Online payments are processed securely through Stripe.
When you make a purchase, information necessary to process your payment is provided to Stripe. This may include your name, billing information, payment method and transaction information.
I do not personally receive or store your full credit or debit card details.
Stripe processes transaction and payment information in accordance with its own privacy practices.
Squarespace
My website and online shop are hosted by Squarespace.
Squarespace processes certain information on my behalf to provide website hosting, ecommerce, analytics and email marketing services. This may include information about your browser, network and device, your IP address, the pages you visit and how you interact with the website.
Website analytics
I use Squarespace Analytics and Google Analytics to understand how people find and use my website.
This can include information such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive at the website, general location and device or browser information, and how visitors interact with the site.
I use this information to understand how the website is performing and to help me improve it.
Analytics that rely on non-essential cookies are used where the appropriate cookie consent has been given. You can manage your cookie preferences through the cookie controls on this website.

Some cookies are necessary for the website and online shop to function correctly. Others may be used for analytics and performance purposes, including by Squarespace and Google Analytics.

Who I share information with
I don't sell your personal information.
I only share information where necessary to operate my business, fulfil orders or comply with legal obligations. This may include:

• Stripe, for secure payment processing
• Google Analytics, for website analytics where consent has been given
• Royal Mail or another delivery provider, where necessary to deliver your order
• professional advisers, accountants or public authorities where necessary to meet legal, tax or regulatory obligations
These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual arrangements with me.
International transfers
Some of the technology providers I use may process or store personal information outside the UK.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, I rely on the safeguards provided by the relevant service provider and applicable data protection law to protect that information.
How long I keep your information
I only keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including meeting any legal, accounting or tax obligations.
Order and transaction records may therefore be retained for the period required for accounting and tax purposes.
Mailing list information is retained until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it.
Enquiries and correspondence are kept only for as long as they remain useful or necessary in relation to the enquiry, project or business relationship.

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. These may include the right to:
